memories were a lie

all this time
all the memories were a lie
you taught me so much
arts and equations
we laughed
slow brains
slower plans

all that time
those memories were a lie
years i don’t want to remember
thought from your perspective
maybe you’re right
strike when the iron is hot?
hell no
you made it hot to strike it
watched me grow up

but all this time
all those memories were a lie
many signs
so young so naive
couldn’t see
all along in front of me
took them away from me
turn them against me?
i may be alone
you can’t make me lonely

all this time
all the memories were a lie
i will erase
one by one by one (listen to “You should see me in a crown”  from Billie Eillish to understand the inspiration)
there’s more good
I’ll hold on to that.
